Disappointment

I have nothing much to say other than, I'm glad we're finally going to take that exam and get it over and done with. We are done with all past year papers and cleared all the worksheets. This Friday, we will be going through everything as revision.

The latest past year paper which we did, Math SA1 2007, was very poorly done. It was not even that challenging at all. You just did not put in more effort in checking! If you say that you did not have time, then you are dead wrong. I gave you more than two hours to complete it and still some of you handed it in to me late. When I was struggling to check the late work just now, you still had the nerve to make noise.

This is the mid year exam. Wake up. Stop playing a fool and start being serious. I know for a fact that ALL of you can do well if only you would take your work seriously. You are all intelligent young boys and girls! If you double check each and every question that you do, you will definitely do well.

Is that so hard to ask for, 3 Gabriel?!

I am very disappointed and upset with you. I have worked very hard giving you extra work because I know as smarter children, you need the extra push. Do the same for me! You work hard too! This is important!

Don't disappoint me, class. Most importantly, don't disappoint yourself, when you know you can do better. Being smart does not mean you don't have to work hard. You have to work harder still.

PLEASE. Once everything is returned to you (files, activity books, exercise books), go through everything and make sure you do not make the same mistakes you did.

Even those of you who have been scoring above ninety all this while. Continue practicing and working to become even better than you are now.

Let's show the school what 3 Gabriel is made of.

Exams Are Here

Assignment:
Math Activity Book
Review 4
(both Review 3, which was done in class, and 4 are to be completed)

Reminders:
SA1 2006 Math Paper to be signed by your parents

There is a dialogue sesson available for parents on the 9th of May, about Mission, Vision and Value. It will be with the principal, some teachers and about five to ten parents from each level. Please ask your parents if they would like to attend. Tell me by tomorrow, OK? I will give more details then.

Exam has finally begun! At the start of the day, as I watched 3G as they walked back to class, my heart was pounding. It was like I was going to take the exam myself! I was really really really nervous for them. When I talked to them about it after the exam, I was shocked to find out so many decided to do Situational Writing even though I discouraged them because we haven't had enough practice for that.

But then again, I trust their capabilities. Their latest composition was quite well done. The P3 teachers are gathering tomorrow to mark the compos together and I do hope my Gs will make me proud. Especially my star writers like Nikhita, Bryan, Gina, Christine and Philip. God, I hope Travis did not write the illogical nonsense he is so fond of writing!

Today, we practiced Math with Review 3. I gave them back their SA1 2006 Math paper which was not really well done... There were more than three who got seventy to eighty. The highest was Dawn and Ivan, with 98/100. I am very proud of them.

I really don't like the exam seating position! It is very confusing and I forget where everybody is! The boys are louder together and among the girls, there is a trio consisting of Jolyn, Ashley and Gina who are incredibly giggly and chatty when put together! It is a nightmare!!!

Bryan requested a change of seat back to Group Hope because that is where all his friends are. Evil Dylan and Evil Warren. But I shall not fulfil his request. The Evil Ones must not be united. :D

The Gs are always in a strange mood come exams. They laugh more. It is rather... Disturbing. I think they are just stressed out and perhaps, going crazy.

They are not alone. I am going crazy myself. OK, I have to go. Scripts to mark. See you tomorrow.

Us Conquerers

Today's General Knowledge Question:
What is meant by the term 'geocentric universe'? [Answered by Divya: It is a universe where Earth is at the centre and the sun and all the planets revolve around it.]

The closer the exams are, the shorter the days seem to be, to me. Just now, we did not get to do much during English as thirteen of us were taking part in the University of New South Wales' International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (UNSW's ICAS). It was a Science paper and as I flipped through the paper, I think it was slightly difficult but I am confident the Gs can do well on it.

Meanwhile, the rest of the class did some comprehension questions.

After that, we went through the meaning of first, second and third person, because judging from the English Activity Book, most of the Gs have no clue what they mean. So I had the help of Divya, Skyler and Ashley and demonstrated. One of the examples I gave for 'first person' was that "I AM QUEEN OF ALL THE LAND!" The class immediately groaned. (As expected.)

(-_-")

OK, so it is fine for Naveed to write a manual about taking over the world, for Bryan to collect Blu Tac in effort to conquer the world, and for the Hope boys to turn into vampires by turning up their collars???? And it is not fine for me to claim myself as QUEEN OF ALL THE LAND????

Anyway. Getting on. Math periods were spent going through 2006's SA1 paper. I took the pains of explaining each and every question so that those among you who are too shy to approach me to clarify your doubts, will benefit from it.

We have covered the syllabus, we have practiced with past year papers and you have half-killed me with your endless questions. You are bright young people. So, I see no reason why we can't do well in the coming SA1. DO NOT let carelessness and laziness get in the way of success!

At this point, this is not about doing well or not doing well. This is about getting an A or an A*! (Above 80 only.) Bs and Cs are absolutely unacceptable. I have a good mind to have you come back for remedials in June if you get less than an A for any subject.

Let's get through this together!

See you tomorrow!

[Update on theft cases: We are getting closer to the actual capture but I do not want to reveal the suspects yet. I have a new approach for the patrol team to tackle this. We already have a schedule so none of them misses out on recess too much. However, we need more recruits. Non-prefects, preferably. If interested, please approach me personally.]
